Abstract
Paronyms are word pairs, which have a different meaning but a similar phonetic structure (the difference in form is reduced to only one or two sounds), and because of this they can be easily confused. They can be researched according to the belonging of the notional content of the terms to the same or different fields, or, in general, according to the lack of belonging to a specialized field. The use of paronyms leads to mistakes in both non- specialized and specialized discourse, which results in the imminent need to develop a comprehensive dictionary of editorial-polygraphic terms. The observations made on some corpora of examples, selected from several modern editorial-polygraphic course materials, showed us the need to rigorously revise and edit everything that is called strictly specialized, scientific text, in order to consolidate the Romanian language as a functional language in the publishing-polygraphic field to avoid lexical and grammatical errors in oral and written scientific dis- course.
