Abstract
The theoretical premises of this article consist in treating the vocabulary as a system, conditioned by the connection between both linguistic and extralinguistic factors. However, the most important factor in the formation of the lexical system is determined by the relationships established in the surrounding reality that are reflected in this subsystem of the language. The article broaches the issue of the importance of the elaboration of thematic dictionaries (with didactic orientation). We establish the forms and the criteria for carrying out this type of lexicographic works. On the other hand, the thematic principle of studying and presenting the vocabulary has a special importance both in the process of accomplishing the communicative act, and in the one of learning a language, but also in the process of translation.
